Ten girls from Ashtead CC represented Mole Valley in the P&G Surrey Youth Games, an event in which all eleven districts and boroughs in Surrey entered teams into fifteen different sporting events.
Held at the Surrey Sports Park, 12 teams took part in the girls’ cricket event with two teams from Mole Valley – Newdigate (MV1) and Ashtead (MV2).
A mixed bag on the day for MV2 with narrow losses against Woking and our Mole Valley counterpart Newdigate, but strong wins against Reigate & Banstead and Woking 2.
Some very solid performances by match two with energetic batting from Sophie Porter, Alice Marjot, Katie Miles, Olivia Hodson and Isabelle Reid and some very tidy fielding on the boundary by Jocelyn Cosmatos, Jessica Laguarda and Amy Tubb.
With some seriously good bowling by Captain Peggy Winterborne and a full toss and wicket by Isabel Makroum, MV2 upped their game by match 3 with a fine display of runs, catches and fours once they got into their stride.
Ashtead Girls’ continue to grow in confidence and can be proud of their position of 6th out of 12 teams.
Special thanks to our Junior Coach, Joe Tisi for his planning and enthusiasm - and to all our supporters for making the day so enjoyable despite the rain.
