Following last weeks loss by 1 run, the U14/U15 Gladys Chitty side had another close finish but were unable to clinch victory despite needing just 1 run off the last 3 balls of the game.
Cheam batted first and scored steadily through the innings with max top scoring with 24 before being stumped off the bowling of Riley Jarrold. Jason Cook was the pick of the bowlers claiming 3 wickets for 9 runs off his 3 overs. Peter Wing bowled a good line and length at the beginning of the innings conceding only 8 runs off his 3 overs.
Cheam totalled 102 for the loss of 6 wickets and Ashtead's response started slowly before Riley Jarrold upped the pace and retired on 32.
With Jason Cook also making the retirement score of 31 in quick time the odds seemed to be in Ashtead favour and only 3 runs were required off the last over. A couple of singles tired the scores with 3 balls remaining but the winning run proved out of reach and Alex Jepp (24) was run out off the last ball trying to take an impossible single to the keeper.
Two games gone and two decided on the last ball but a win still eludes the side. Next time guys!
