Outstanding run chase to win game

The U15s produced a superb batting display to chase down a large total against Guilford at Headley. Guildford won the toss and opted to bat first and it was n't long before the runs began to flow. With Matty Stephenson retiring for a half-century the 100 came up in the 13th over and a very large score looked a possibility. The spin of Riley Jarrold [3 for 21] and Ben Geddes [1 for 23] slowed the scoring rate but Guildford still posted 147 for the loss of 6 wickets.
To chase such a total, the Ashtead boys needed a good start and Marcus Caprano-Wint [43] and Sam Hunt [31] made the most of a couple of dropped chances to post an opening stand of 73. After both fell, Blake Fildes [21] joined Ben Geddes at the crease and their stand of 58 took Ashtead to the brink of an unlikely victory. With Ben Geddes carrying his bat for 42 Not Out the victory target was reached with 8 balls remaining. A great game played in good spirit by both sides. Well done to the boys.
