The U15s progressed into Round 3 of the ECB National competition following a 10 run victory over Long Ditton. Batting first, the young stags started with all guns blazing away. Runs came freely with Ben Geddes and Tom Youngman retiring with half centuries and 97 runs came off the first 9 overs! The rest of the players struggled to score at the same rate and after20 overs the total had reached 137 for 9 wickets.
In response, Long Ditton chased the total with confidence with a few batsmen posting a contribution. With 8 overs to go the game was in the balance but the introduction of Sam Hunt into the attach and a tidy spell from Kian hamin at the end of the innings turned the game. Sam Hunt took 4 wickets as the scoring rate slowed and Ashtead ran out winners by 10 runs.
Ashtead host local rivals Leatherhead or Chessington in the next round.
