U15s gain first win of the season

On a cold Sunday morning Ashtead U15s visited Old Ruts in the Mid Surrey League and secured a good win.

Fielding first Ashtead looked much livelier than the previous match and thankfully held all their catches, Williams and Bedell both took good catches while the bowling was largely much tighter than the previous game. Caprano-Wint found himself bowling at their no7 on a hat-trick. The pick of the bowlers was Gamber finishing with 3-26 in his 4 overs. But a vastly improved fielding display was very pleasing to see. Old Ruts found themselves 132 all out in with 2 overs left, and only Braithwaite 61 retired and Nelson 31 looked to trouble the Ashtead bowlers.

The run chase started positively with Storey and Nichols punishing anything short or wide. Having hit 10 off the first two balls of the 8th over Storey chipped a catch up and was caught for 30. Both Williams and Bedell fell cheaply bringing Sidwell into bat and thankfully both he and Nichols saw the team home with 11 balls left, Nichols finishing on 58 not out and Sidwell on a well paced 28 not out.
