The U13’s cruised to victory in their first league fixture of the season, beating Worcester Park by 85 runs. On a glorious day for cricket the boys batted first with Dan Geddes retiring on 43 and Daniel Fisher scoring 18, setting a strong platform for Kish Patel and Charlie Miers to reach 27 and 36 not out respectively to bring up an impressive total of 151 for 3 off 24 overs. Running between the wickets was a theme for the last training session and it seemed to pay dividends with quick singles ran and no runs left in the field.
Ned Hussey opened the bowling with Aidan Bennett, and Ned claimed 3 quick wickets for 5 runs, Aidan 1 wicket for 3 runs. Everyone had a spell of bowling with Parth Gupta, George Bustard, Sam Conlan and Charlie Miers bowling maidens – great to see. Kish and Charlie picked up a wicket each and Daniel F was inspired behind the stumps with some great stops. Good fielding and a positive attitude enabled the boys to restrict Worcester Park to 66 for 7 off their 24 overs. Well played Harry Amer who made his Ashtead debut. Another excellent all round team performance
