ASHTEAD U12A V CHESSINGTON
MSL LEAGUE 22ND MAY 2015
Batting
On a dry evening Ashtead lost the toss and were put into bat on a well prepared, hard, dry and true wicket. Gooding Senior commented with authority that "it looked a bit green" but he had clearly picked that comment straight from Test Match Special!
Ashtead batted with great purpose posting 168 for 0 after 20 Overs with Graham, Goodin and Hutter all retiring on 35+ not out and Gwyther 30 not out at the end.
Bowling
Having posted such a good batting total the Captain was able to rotate the bowling with 7 bowlers being used. Everyone played a part with the non bowlers, Hutter wicket keeping, Graham taking a catch and Gooding and Gwyther getting run outs.
The opening combination of Brockes and Jenkins found swing and movement off the seam with good length which thwarted any chance of Chessington's opening batsmen getting off to a good start on a tough run chase.
Wickets were taken by Mason (2), Jenkins, Crossan, Shadrack and Mir with 2 maidens for Mir (economy 0.75) and 2 maidens from Bunyard with economy of 0.0.
Chessington reached 56 for 8 after 20 Overs and Ashtead U12A won by 111 runs.
Many thanks to Crossan (Brendan) for scoring, Gary Mason for warming the boys up before the match and Ollie Graham for umpiring - all much appreciated.
