ASHTEAD U12A V RUTLISHIANS
MSL LEAGUE 15TH MAY 2015
Batting
On a drearier than expected evening Ashtead lost the toss and were put into bat for their first league fixture of the 2015 campaign on a damp and slow wicket.
Arnett and Hutter were the opening pair, Arnett being fairly bowled for 9 and Hutter scoring 25 before succumbing to an ugly ball which bounced twice before rolling under the bat. Goodin came in at 3 and played some solid shots scoring 21 off 31 balls, holding the end up nicely which allowed Graham to score a quick fire 38 (retired) off 19 balls and Fraser Ker to carve out 12 from 9 at the end. With the extras a total of 141 off 20 overs, a very good score.
Bowling
The words "boys let's have no wides tonight" from Coach Bunyard clearly went unheeded as we managed to bowl 14 wide balls...maybe something to work on but overall a great performance to bowl Rutlishians out for 53 in 18.1 overs with none of their batsmen reaching double figures.
Wickets were taken by all 6 bowlers with 1 each for Brockes, Perkins and Gwyther. 2 each for Mason and Bunyard and stand out figures of 3 for 3 off 3.1 overs for Crossan.
Many thanks to Graham (Oliver) for umpiring, Perkins (Karen) and others for BBQ duties and Crossan (Brendan) for scoring.
Peter Graham
