Match Report, Ashtead Under 11's vs Banstead

We have had a hard week of fixtures, firstly against Wimbledon and last night against Banstead. These are 2 of the best teams in Surrey, and I think that we have done ourselves justice, particularly in the field, where we have restricted the opposition to less than a run a ball. The opposition coach commentated that we are the best bowling team they have played against, which I am sure will lead to future success. I am really pleased that the boys are now fielding as a team, and supporting each other.

Last night I thought the run outs were particularly good, with Billy and Christian leading the way, with a good catch from Alex. Adam's bowling set the tone, and at 30-4 after 8 overs we were in a very good position. We need to work on keeping the tempo going throughout and once against extras added up to 35 runs.

Our batting was challenging from the start against their pace attack. It was disappointing to see how a lot of the boys got themselves out, and there is plenty for us to work on. We were up with the run rate, but losing wickets in quick succession we never got close to the target and lost by 55 runs

I am afraid we are now out of the cup, with no knockout second competition to go into. We have only played 2 league matches, so plenty to play for, with the next league game on Sunday.
