A very encouraging start to the year by the under 10s!
Under grey skies Ashtead lost the toss and were put into bat. The captain for the day was William Elkeles.
The batting was steady if not spectacular with the boys ending the innings on a score of 281 runs off the 20 overs (54 extras)! We lost 4'wickets over the 20'overs. The calling and running between the wickets was patchy but improved as the match went on with lots of encouragement from myself.
The opposition had a target of 282 for victory and fell well short in the end despite actually scoring more runs of the bat! The bowling was excellent with all bowlers performing well with only 10 extras bowled over the 20 overs. The wickets were well shared out but the notable performance came from Jake with figures of 3 - 4- 8 and the opposition ended on 232 with Ashtead having taken 13 wickets. There were some good catches taken but. a few chances were put down
Room for improvement - yes especially in the batting and in the running between the wickets but a very spirited performance and the boys worked well together and showed good camaraderie
