The first A team match played under sunny skies led to a nail biting finish with Ashtead coming out victorious against a very good Sunbury team!
Ashtead won the toss (captain of the day was Aadam Masood) and elected to field. The boys bowled well and restricted a good sunbury team to a modest net 79runs with only 4 wickets falling in the whole innings. There were a few extras given and the boys are working hard on their line and length. The fielding was generally very good. Good bowling performances from Rupert, Aadam, Jake, and Jack which were well backed up by all the other bowlers.
The batting was a tale of two stories! Some excellent batting and attacking shots and running mixed in with some kamakazie running and at least 4 or 5 runs outs with both batsmen stranded at the same end! Notable batting performances today from Deen Buckley and Olly Fitch. The last pair today of Olly and Aadam needed 16 to beat the total set by Sunbury and got there without losing any wickets with some good stroke play by Olly and good rotation of strike by Aadam. Aadam held off the last over knowing the target had been reached and did well not to lose his concentration.
Well done to the entire team. It was a good team performance! Ashtead under 10s go 3-0
