Latest win over East Molesey see's momentum build for 3s

Back to back wins for Ashtead 3s sees points tally grow. Ashtead played East Molesey for the first time this season at Box Hill on what looked another belting track. Having lost the toss we had a bowl which started incredibly well with openers Rose (3-15 from 11) and Dunn (2-23 from 8) making things very difficult for the East Molesey batters.

The first wickets fell to Dunn with a sharp catch down the leg side to the keeper and a clean bowled. With both openers back on the sidelines it was Rose's turn to get into the action with some great pace and movement he picked up the next 3 wickets all bowled as East Molesey found themselves 24-5. Martin (2-15 in 7) replaced Rose down the hill and soon picked up a straightforward LBW to leave East Molesey at 32-6. But the lower order all batted better with numbers 7 - 11 all scoring double figures the wickets did not fall so quickly. The Molesey skipper was the next to go with the score on 59-7 as Martin got yet another clean bowled dismissal.

Runs were hard to come by as the spin of N Williams (0-13 from 6) and C Caprano-Wint (2-12 from 9) was introduced. The leg spin and googlies accounted for 2 East Molesey batters as Caprano-Wint clean bowled their no7 bat at 76-8 and grabbing the return catch of the no9 at 79-9. The last pair batted very well, getting right behind the ball and defending well. Rose was brought back and was unlucky not to pick up the final wicket as a sharp one handed catch was spilled down the legside by the keeper and then short-leg spilled another sharp chance. With Dunn replacing Rose and Waugh replacing Caprano-Wint it finally took a great throw from the deep by Alex Culhane and a gather by keeper Wint to claim the final East Molesey wicket run out closing the innings on 116 in 47.2 overs. An excellent bowling performance on a very good wicket.

In reply the East Molesey opener Wood (1-9 from 7) was equally tight on his bowling and picked up the only wicket to fall of skipper Tom Culhane (0) which meant Rice Burnett (52*) and Dunn (59*) had to weather the early storm but then accelerate as the bowling changed to knock the runs off in the 23rd over, finishing 120-1 and claiming the full 24 points.
