Reigate Priory won the toss and chose to field. Ashtead openers Gary Martin (27*) and Michael Sanderson (21*)looked comfortable at the crease as a score of 63 was reached with ease before a heavy downpour stopped play after only 12.2 overs.

Rain stopped after 30 minutes but the square was too wet to play on and an early tea was taken. Unfortunately a further shower and a lack of mops meant that at 3.40 the umpires agreed that the pitch was too wet to play on and any further delay would have made it impossible to play sufficient overs for a result. The match was duly abandoned - a disappointing start to the season!
