2s work together to bowl out Spencer for 110 and then knock off the runs in record time.

Ashtead won the toss and put Spencer in to bat, wondering how long the showers would stay away. Some tidy bowling from Prashanth Srinisavan and Henry Elburn kept the runs down and the first wicket of Hugo Derby fell in the 3rd over to a catch behind by Simon Feeney off Prashanth with the score on 1. Tom Williams took over from Prashanth and Spencer's score crawled up to 30 at the start of the 13th over when Williams took a couple of quick wickets: S Malik(21) and H Bardon for a duck.

Alex Rackow and A Jafri put together a partnership of 21 before Rackow fell lbw to Sam Homes for 16, followed not long after by A Jafri (18) bowled Sam Homes and A Iqbal (1) stumped Feeney, again off Sam Homes. Some resistance was put up by C Williams (21) and SM Jafri (15)who put on a partnership of 35 before Jafri was bowled by Tom Homes in the 37th over with the score on 90. New batsman A Sindhu fell to the next ball and Spencer's remaining batsmen fell one each to the spin brothers, with the score progressing to 110 after 43.4 overs and an early tea was had.

Ashtead welcomed back Gary Martin after injury and he opened the batting with Michael Sanderson. Having watched the effectiveness of Ashtead's spinners, Spencer made the mistake of deciding to open with their own spinners....Gary clearly decided that he did not want to run more than necessary between the wickets and set about dispatching fours around the ground. Spencer tried out seven bowlers but to no avail. Martin together with Michael Sanderson put together a partnership of 96 before Sanderson was finally bowled by Abid Jafri for 31.

George Tyson came to the crease in the 22nd over but it took only another 3 overs before Ashtead had met their target and the game was won. George was not out 6 and Gary had knocked up a score of 66 off 88 balls, including 14 fours.

Good work was done by all and the team adjourned to the bar to enjoy the start of Great Britain's Olympic gold rush, perhaps the less said about certain people singing the National anthem the better!
