9 wicket victory over local rivals in first game of the new U19 T20 tournament

Ashtead Bucks travelled to Chessington on this Friday evening, but even with Police cordons due to a building fire near their ground couldn't stop a resounding 9 wicket win for the Bucks to start their U19 T20 tournament.

Having lost the toss, we starting only 15 mins late, and with only 10 men with one still on the road we took the field. The first wicket fell with the first ball of the second over as skipper Marcus Caprano-Wint (2-8) took his first wicket with a skyer taken by Paddy Crossan at mid-on. The second wicket came in his next over as he bowled the Chessington skipper for 11. The bowling changed regularly, being tidy and economical without any luck, but it was only once Crossan (2-13) came into the attack that the next wicket fell as he picked up two in two balls, the first a stumping by Luc Hutter, and the second a high catch by Riley Jarrold.

The final wicket fell in the penultimate over when Harri Aravinthan picked up his first and only wicket as he bowled the Chessington number 5. The final over from the skipper went for just one run and Chessington finished on 97-5 in their 20 overs on a tricky wicket. Very commendable to have bowled the full 20 overs in just an hour and 7 minutes.

In reply, openers Harri A and Luc H seemed on a mission to finish the game early as the latter scored 17 in just 8 balls as he fell to a high catch in the covers with the score on 20 and Harri retired with a huge six on 51 in just 17 balls including six 4's and four 6's, this left Dan Geddes (14*) and Dom Venn (12*) to see the side to the required 98 with the loss of just one wicket in the middle of the 9th over and in just 38 minutes.

The next game for the Bucks see's another Friday night trip but this time to Malden Wanderers in two weeks time.
