A slightly under par performance was still sufficient to defeat Banstaed and enough for the U14s to regain top slot of MSL Div 1. After winning the toss and deciding to bat, the loss of two early wickets to the bowling to Marcus Malley [3 for 11] put Ashtead on the back foot early in the innings. All batsmen got in but were unable to push on before losing their wicket. Alex Jepp top scored with 24 as the innings steadily progressed to 118 for 9 off the 20 overs.
In reply, Blake Fildes took an early wicket and was quickly followed by a further wicket from Tom Youngman [2 for 7], With the other bowlers sharing the wickets [Jason Cook 3 for 23, Riley Jarrold 2 for 8] the Banstead innings never looked like threatening the Ashtead total and concluded for 81, resulting in a 37 run victory. The win takes Ashtead to the top of the league with just one game remaining and are now guaranteed of a top two finish.
