A competent all round performance by the U14s saw champions Spencer defeated for the second time this season. After winning the toss and decided to bat, the young stags go off to a great start with Marcus Caprano-Wint [33] and Charlie Sidwell [29] adding 65 for the first wicket off the first 8 overs. Sam Hunt [17] and Tom Youngman [25] kept the momentum going and despite the loss of a few wickets the innings closed on 154 for 7 off the allotted 24 overs. Morgan Anthony claimed 3 for 30 for the visitors.
In response, the Spencer innings was a story of a steady fall of wickets with only Harler [21] and Bilal [24] making a worthy contribution. Once Bilal fell to the bowling of Jason Cook [2 for 10] the inning never really threatened the Ashtead score and only a ninth wicker partnership of 30 made the score look respectable for the visitors. Blake Fildes [2 for 17] and Riley Jarrold [2 for 29] also claimed two wickets each.
A comprehensive victory that keeps the U14s in the title race.
