After a couple of disappointing performances the U14s came back to winning ways with a 7 wicket victory over Richmond to remain top of MSL Div 1. Ashtead won the toss and opted to field first in the light rain on a very interesting park pitch in Cheswick to say the least.
After Sam Hunt made an early breakthrough it was a case of restricting hard hitting Sami Shori of the strike and this proved a shrewd tactically move as wickets fell at the other end, especially to the spin of Riley Jarrold, who finished with 3 for 9 off his allotted 4 overs. Blake Fildes took the important wicket of Sami [41], having him caught behind by Harry Plumb and after that the innings never got going again and ended on 106 for 9 off the full 24 overs.
In reply, despite losing a couple of wickets the scoring rate was always in control, with Blake Fildes in particular scoring quickly. After Hunt fell for 12, Max Lowrey [21 Not out] joined Blake in a match winning partnership of 42, with Blake reaching the retiring score of 50 with the matching winning boundary.
With 4 remaining fixtures the side has everything to play for with the championship up for grabs.
