Kempton batted first and were quickly in trouble at 9 for 2 after a decent opening spell from Ben and Alex. Their no.4 though got the bit between his teeth and started putting bat to ball (ending on 48 no). Some of our fielding (stopping really) left something to be desired and they raced on to 91 for 4 in the 16th over. Captain Tom O sensibly brought back his front line bowlers and that stemmed the tide a bit but they still got to 128 for 5 off their 20 overs.
Sam did a very creditable job as wicketkeeper today. This looked an achievable target for Ashtead but only Alex got going with two sixes in his 30. No one else got to double figures and our run rate petered out at 100 all out in the 19th over.
Thanks to Andrew Meech for umpiring and Andy Gadsby for scoring. Several other parents took turns on the BBQ and drinks so it was a good Ashtead family event.
