Ashtead U9s lost to Leatherhead in a well fought game at Oakfield.
Batting first, Ashtead struggled for runs early on and the loss of a couple of wickets further pegged back Ashtead. Tom Gulliver (19 off 11) picked up the pace with some powerful hitting, teeing up Isobel Cooper (20 off 15) and Sophie Benson (10 off 8) to add runs in the middle order.
The Leatherhead innings started well, with the Ashtead bowlers struggling to find their line. Some good fielding, including a fine run out from Tom Gulliver and a well taken caught and bowled from Mikey Pinnock gave Ashtead a foothold, but Leatherhead always looked comfortable in their pursuit of the Ashtead score.
Joe Robinson topped the bowling effort with figures of 3 for 11. Tom Gulliver was excellent in the field, capping a fine all-round match.
