U9Bs lose but take 8 wickets

Today a number of U9s were making their competitive debut. Batting first we struggled to put on runs against a strong Kempton side who only have one team, playing in the GC League. At 240 for 5 the total looked well short and despite Henry, Callum and James hitting boundaries.

However what a fantastic performance in the field. Again a number of the boys were bowling in a league match for the first time and some good straight bowling resulting in 2 wickets for Archie, one with the first ball of the innings which really set the tempo. This was followed by wickets for Oliver, Tom, 2 run outs by James on Toby's bowling and one for Callum. Some great backing up and fieldng from Felix, Callum and Toby and great field placings resulting in 4 catches at square leg by Henry.

Taking 8 wickets, what a performance, this was a tough match to lose and hard to believe we did in the end but highly encouraging for next season.
