Thieves steal phones, but Ashtead takes the points

With 3 games to go, Ashtead 3s knew the equation, win all three games and hope Banstead lose all theres and Premier league cricket is secured for another season. The first weekend of the three has gone to plan as we comfortably beat Cheam by 8 wickets and Banstead lost to Wimbledon by 9 wickets. Two more to go!

The game was marred by some peasant going into the dressing rooms and stealing phones and cash from both teams, after a short interlude with the Police being called the game continued and Ashtead, having lost the toss and bowling first then picked up two more quick wickets. Wickets continued to tumble when finally in the 36th over Jake Martin came on and clean bowled the last man as Cheam reached 135. Henry Elburn, after two very wayward overs bowled really well for his 1-25, Connor Caprano-Wint picked up 2-20 and Oliver Cooper 1-25 were the wicket takers, but the pick of the bowlers was Nick Williams who took 5-34 in his 10 overs.

In reply, Ashtead lost their first wicket with the score on 52, as Sam Gale was bowled by Fisher, and it wasn't until the we were 4 runs short at 132 that Tom Culhane was out for a well played 50, Seb Stewart-Taylor also scored an undefeated 50 to see the side home with Jack Parkinson 0*.

10 points secured, so only 12 points below Banstead now. Roll on next week, but we'll need to vastly improve if we want to win against Weybridge.
