Having lost the toss and being inserted against a Reigate side in 2nd place things were going to be tough, and so they proved as Ashtead stuttered to reach 121 all out at Box Hill School.
The innings was held together by Jack Parkinson who top scored with 51 and is worryingly only our 2nd 50 of the season. The last two wickets also proved very valuable as they put on 53 key runs moving from 68-8 to 121 when Jack was the last wicket, praise to Aaron Rose and Connor Caprano-Wint for supporting Jack well.
Reigate never looked in trouble in reply, even after the brave move of opening with spin paid off as their opener skied a catch from mid-on from Connor's first ball. Our seamers didn't bowl with the same discipline as Reigate and it was Nick Williams who finished with great figures of 3-12 in his 5 overs. But the innings closed at the end of the 25th over as Reigate finished on 125-4 and ran out comfortable winners.
Ashtead now need to win 4 of their last 5 to have any realistic chance of survival in the Premier League. Much must improve to enable this to happen as we take on Sutton in the next game.
