A hard fought win saw Ashtead move into 2nd place behind Wimbledon in the 3rd XI Premier League.
On a scorching day Ashtead were asked to bat, and after a patient start by the Gale brothers a flurry of wickets under some tight bowling soon saw Ashtead at 65-5 and in trouble.
But then followed the match defining partnership from Chris Latham and Tom Gallagher who put on 176 to totally demoralise the fielding side. Chris batted superbly to reach his 100 and was ably supported by Tom.
The Ashtead innings closed with Tom out on the final ball of the 55th over finishing on 233-9 - an amazing score considering where we were.
The Weybridge response got off to a flyer, despite Lloyd having the opener caught behind early on. Ashtead stayed patient and slowly chipped away, Patrick Murray finishing the pick of the bowlers with 5 wickets, and he was supported by Brett Hawson who gained 2 wickets, one being the final wicket caught by Lloyd at short cover with just 12 balls to go. Weybridge were all out for 208 and sees Ashtead jump above them into 2nd place.
