Ashtead 3s started the season with a game at Box Hill School vs Old Wimbledonians. As new entrants to the league we weren't sure what to expect but we ran out comfortable winners.
Having won the toss and with rain in the air we bowled first which was instantly rewarded with Alex Culhane clean bowling the opener with his second ball. Each bowler chipped in with debutant Barney Cowie finishing with 3-13, Marcus Caprano-Wint and Gyan Visnoi with 2-24 and debutant Karamat Bhatti with 1-18 wrapped up the innings of Old WImbledonians for 155 in the 43rd over.
In reply Ashtead seemed in a hurry, despatching anything wayward to the boundary, Rob Wint was first out after hitting a towering 6 for 25, Jack Parkinson soon followed for 5, then opener Sam Gale and Jake Martin were positive to hurry the score along. Sam was the 3rd and final wicket to fall for a positive 64 off 61 balls leavng Jake 38* and Ben Gale 13* to complete the chase securing a win for Ashtead in the 24th over.
A comprehensive win for Ashtead in their first game in Division 1.
