On another hot evening, the Bucks travelled to Sutton for their 2nd game in two days. We lost the toss and this time were asked to bat. A more watchful approach saw a better batting performance, with Rafeh Jafri (47) top scoring, falling just short of his 50 and we ended up on 119-7 in our 20 overs.
Sutton started well and the score was 31 before we got our first breakthrough, we continued to peg Sutton back incredibly well with tight bowling and after 13 overs the score was 60-6. But yet again we were undone with a good partnership and the 7th wicket put on 46 taking the total to 106-7 with an over to go. But it was a game of two halves in the final over as we restricted them to just 3 runs with one wicket but the final three balls went 6 4 4 and Sutton ran out winners by 3 wickets. Again Oliver Hunt was the pick of the bowlers with 3-17. With less wides and some tighter fielding we should have won this one. But well played Sutton on a great run chase.
Next week we host Oxted & Limspfield Grasshoppers in our first home game of the season. All spectators welcome on Tuesday night.
