Ashtead travelled to Banstead for their first match in the Vitality U19 T20 tournament after the week before's concession by Reigate. Losing the toss the Bucks were asked to field first.
The Banstead innings started brilliantly for Ashtead, after the 4th over the opening bowlers had taken the first 4 Banstead wickets for just 10 runs and the 5th wicket fell with the score on 20. A key partnership for the 6th wicket put on 71 and the innings closed on 112-6. Pick of the bowling was Oliver Hunt with 3 wickets for 5 runs in his 4 overs.
But the batting faltered, with us losing wickets regularly, with only Ben Geddes (22) and Max Santana (25*) scoring over 20, and we finished on 99-6 due to some tight Banstead bowling on a tricky wicket.
We lost by 13 runs, and need an improved performance in the next game the day after against Sutton Scorchers.
