A brief review of the Surrey Championship season

2 weeks ago By Ashtead Cricket Club

See how our players got on in the Surrey Championship this season in the respective Top 20s across the leagues.

All our sides had a good season and at times played some excellent cricket.

Overall, the 1s finished one place below last year in 7th, but with a couple of extra points than 2016, and with only a few games to go were sitting 2nd in a very tight league. The 2s finished 3rd in a really good campaign, finishing 4 places above 2016 and they also lost the fewest amount of games of any side in the league. The 3s finished 6th, a place higher than 2016 and recorded more points than last year. And finally, the 4s finished in 7th, one place below last years.

All sides retained their league status for 2018 with the 1s, 2s and 3s playing Surrey Championship Premier League and the 4s in Division 1.

On a personal front, we've seen some excellent performances through out the year, taking the statistics from the Surrey Championship website the following people reached Top 20 status within their respective leagues for overall performances. A special mention to Mahesh Rawat who not only finished the top batter in the 1st XI Premier League, but across ALL Surrey Championship leagues. We also finished with the top batters in both the 1st and 2nd XI leagues.
